She Creates Change is the first nonprofit-led animated short film to promote gender equality through the stories of young women around the world.
A bold global initiative for
gender equality

She Creates Change is a multi-media storytelling initiative from Room to Read, spanning an award-winning animated short film, an illustrated book and compelling audio stories. The project boldly aims to reach all 432 million adolescent girls (ages 12–18) around the world with educational content and curriculum that supports them in creating change in their lives and communities.
The film explores subjects like poverty alleviation, discrimination, climate justice, menstruation and harassment, amplifying the true stories of relatable young women to inspire girls — and children of all genders — to see themselves as the heroes of their own stories.
She Creates Change is available in episodic and feature lengths, each featuring an individual girl’s story, and in multiple languages including Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, Japanese and French. We will continue to add additional languages to our resource library, so check back often.

Girls everywhere can be supported to access their voices — and build the skills to create a brighter world.
Meet Dewmini, Keya, Trang, Diksha, Yashika and Naifat, the six real-life heroes from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Nepal, India and Tanzania featured in She Creates Change.
Throughout the films, each girl addresses challenges familiar to children and young adults around the world: harassment, food scarcity, colorism, family ruptures and more. Each girl’s story demonstrates how learning foundational life skills — like leadership, critical thinking and collaboration — has helped them complete their education with the resilience and confidence to lead.
